I love memes that have to do with writing–anything for an excuse to babble about what you’re working on, right? I stole this one from reoune on LJ.
What’s the last thing you wrote?
The beginning of chapter… (I have to check) 13 of Circle of Many Faces.
Was it any good?
Maybe? It’s all right. Tried to work in some nice imagery. Charlotte and Lia actually had a somewhat normal conversation.
What’s the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Uhh… well, anything that I still have that was written in any complete capacity is probably my 2003 NaNo. I think I may still have a story around that I was writing my senior year of high school, but before that I had a computer die on me, so I lost everything. Which is all right as none of it was really anything important, anyway.
Write poetry?
Nah.
Angsty poetry?
Only as a joke…
Most fun character you ever wrote?
Oh, jeez, I don’t know. Lia’s fun because she walks a morally gray line and can get away with a lot. I find all my characters fun to write, though; if they weren’t I’d never manage to write them!
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Charlotte mark I. I had no idea what I was doing with her, she’s nothing but a twit in the old Nano version of Circle. Course, I guess that can happen when I won’t stop writing to think about anything.
Best plot you ever wrote?
Um… I don’t know, I don’t know that any of my mainstream plots at the moment are better than the others.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
There’s one in Circle eventually that I am very fond of, but I’m not saying what it is. It involves Lia and Reeve.
How often do you get writer’s block?
I always have writer’s block, I just keep writing anyway.
How do you fix it?
If I ignore it, maybe it will go away…
Do you type or write by hand?
I type; I can’t write by hand quickly enough.
Do you save everything you write?
Not everything everything, but mostly, yes.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
Yup. Sometimes that’s the best thig for an idea.
What’s your favourite thing that you’ve written?
I couldn’t pick a favorite.
What’s everyone else’s favourite thing that you’ve written?
I don’t know, nobody ever tells me these things! lol. If anyone’s reading here, comments would be appreciated.
Do you ever show people your work?
I give it to critique groups. Outside, I have made attempts to show it to people, but there have been very few people who have actually looked at it.
Who’s your favourite constructive critic?
I have always appreciated Amelia June’s critique. She catches all my dumb errors and gives great positive comments as well.
Did you ever write a novel?
Well, I’ve won Nanowrimo four times, so…
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
I usually classify as fantasy, though I often borrow horror elements. Sci-fi I use a little less, but I’ve worked with it.
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
I’ve never written straight-up in the romance genre, but I have included romantic subplots. As for teen angsty drama, not really, no.
What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
“Realistic fiction.” Can’t do it. Like making things up way too much.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
One major one, technically three.
Do you want to write for a living?
I would love to.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Nope, not really my strength.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Hah, no.
Ever written something in script or play format?
It has been a long, long time since I attempted anything like that. I like prose far too much.
What is your favourite word?
Um… food? lol. There are words I tend to overuse, but I always forget them unless I’m using them.
Do you ever write based on yourself?
I think everyone writes based on themselves in some way or another since writing is such a personal thing. Do I write self-insertions? No. Do I draw on my own personality, worries, experiences? Definitely.
Which of your characters most resembles you?
Resembles how? Physically, Lia, but her hair is shorter and she’s stronger… Personality-wise, I share things with all of my characters, but maybe Sam. Not to say we are a lot alike, but there are definitely things I share with him.
Where do you get ideas for your characters?
I don’t think there’s really a “where” to things like that.
Do you prefer happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I prefer an ending I can take something away from, so whichever is appropriate. I loath a sad ending just for the sake of having one because “there are too many happy endings,” or “life doesn’t have happy endings.” If there’s a sad ending, there better be a point to it–if everyone dies, was what they did worth it? There has to be something positive I can take away from it, otherwise it just makes me grumpy.
Have you ever written anything based on an artwork you’ve seen?
Not that I recall.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Yes, but I have that pretty hard-wired so I generally don’t have to think about it.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak?
No, though I tried to adapt part of the Veronica Mars pilot into nothing but smilies once, just for fun.
Does music help you write?
Sometimes. I really prefer just general background noise though, like the TV. Can’t explain it, but that’s what works for me.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
Assuming I write well, I don’t think they’re surprised or confused because I think I come off as reasonably literate
That and I talk about the fact that I write a lot.
Quote something you’ve written.
He padded to his door and banged on it with one fist. “I need water!” he yelled.
“Shut your mouth!” the guard on the other side snapped. “Drink your piss if you’re thirsty!”
Reeve’s mouth twisted into a scowl. “I need water if I’m going to take a piss in the first place, stupid!” he said, and kicked the door–an action he immediately regretted. He retreated to his bed to nurse his scraped toes. His mouth was parched, but he managed enough saliva to lick his hand and rub his foot.

Very nice! If I get motivated enough, I might just answer it myself. Then again, waiting for me to get motivated could take a very, very, very, very, very… you get the point. LOL!
